Anyone who has ever entertained notions of looking deeper into the realm of human thought and emotion has probably considered a career in psychology. For a few generations, it is one of the undergraduate majors that can offer a little bit of artistic tendencies a place to play while pursuing a degree in science. It has an ability to attract thinkers from all walks and interests. To aim for a psychology masters degree however, is a bit of a different story.
Here the interest in the inner life and emotions becomes much more focused, and those who look at it as a way of life usually have specific careers in mind. But one of the benefits of studying psychology on a deeper level doesn’t just come from the deep knowledge of a particular area of human behavior. There is also a deeper knowledge of the beginnings of the science, in order to make connections between the present and the deep past.
It’s likely that most beginning students have heard of phrenology . This refers to the study of the bumps on the head, and in the middle of the 19th century, it was somewhat well regarded. There was a good deal of serious inquiry into how bumps could determine personalities. Although it’s been discounted for a long time as a science, it stands as a historical moment when people started to become interested in human behavior, looking for ways to predict this most unpredictable species.

Thanks to the economic troubles of the past few years, many people are finding themselves in the position of changing careers. While this may seem like a difficult and overwhelming process at times, it is actually proving to be a blessing for many individuals. This is because so many people chose careers based on income and advancement rather than on actual interest in or passion for a given field. By being forced to abandon these early choices, workers are able to reassess the career that is actually most compatible for them.
An increase in the number of available travel nursing jobs is causing many nurses to reconsider the need to tie themselves to a specific position and place. Instead, they are able to travel around the country to complete a series of assignments, lasting two months to a year. These positions are usually in hospitals and clinics that are experiencing shortages of qualified nurses and are desperate for help. Travel nurses are able to go not just where the money is, but where their services are most needed.
Another reason that many professionals are taking travel nursing positions is that they can fill a hole between jobs. Those that were let go due to funding shortgages may hope to eventually be hired back to the original position. Instead of taking another permanent post that might exclude them from consideration should their original job reopen, they can take a temporary assignment, or a series of assignments, that will keep their skills fresh and their bank balance in the black while they wait.

Golf is becoming a major industry, contributing billions of dollars every year to charity as well as impacting the US economy in a huge way through fees, professional tournaments , broadcast rights, jobs created and even golf tourism. As a result, many universities and colleges are offering degree programs in golf management and there are separate golf schools being accredited to prepare students to thrive in the growing industry.
The appeal of such programs to golf lovers is obvious. They get to study business, management, hospitality, and facilities management while also receiving instruction in technique and skill to improve their golf game. With many schools hiring PGA professionals to teach golf, students graduate at the top of their game and some go on to compete professionally. Others take their skills and become instructors at courses or coach golf in high schools and colleges or coach individual golfers to become the next golf superstar.
Other professional golf career s available include golf commentators and analysis on broadcast networks, cable sports channels and even the Golf Channel. Students can also pursue marketing and sales positions with clubs, manufacturers and tournaments, and grounds, club, and course management positions.
