Corfu Beaches

The beaches in Corfu are the main draw to the island and even though it is only 135 miles in radius the beaches seem to be endless. There are some really amazing mountain ranges that fall along the waters edge leaving visitors with a chance to hike up and enjoy the views of the beach coves lined with small villages. It gives one a sense of freedom in the mind and body. There is a beach that is perfect for every mood one may be in while vacationing on this beautiful island of Greece. There are some that are filled with historical markers left for hundreds of years and some that have nothing but nude bodies on their soft white sand.  

The Paleokastritsa is one of the most famous villages on the island of Corfu. It is not far from Corfu Town and has some picturesque little coves and beach areas scattered around the coastline. The village itself has some really nice places to eat such as Astacos and there are plenty of Corfu hotels to rest your head at night. This is a great place to start your island adventures. It has a great feel to the place with its harbor on the sea and the surrounding olive tree forests on the mountains above. It is a great example of the famous quaint Greek feel and it has lots of ways to stay entertained with many shops, galleries and the market of Corfu Town near by.

When one has had enough of the more crowded villages and beaches, it may be time to seek out some other special beaches on the island. If it is just you, your lover and a carefree attitude than picnic lunch of cheese, bread and wine and head over to Mirtiotissa Beach . This is a rather secluded beach where visitors can enjoy the sun, water, wind and sand in the nude. There are no facilities there so you need to make sure you bring your own food and water. It was one of the best kept secrets on the island. Even though more people know about this wonderful seaside cove, it is still a quiet place to relax.
